Sound Design - Concept Research
For Dead in the Water, we want our topic to really hit home, and I aim to create a sound design around that idea. After discussing it with Lizzie, we plan to give the film some texture, so to say. When the sound is synchronous with shots of the farms, it will be very raw and unnerving, making the audience feel like they are there but don’t necessarily want to be. With the interviews of people who are affected by the waste, we plan to keep the sound very intimate and personal with some background music to match their emotions. Since Concentration swayed more to the scientific side of things, we are trying to appeal to people’s humanity. We want to implement a very rural feel to our film, and so, Lizzie has already hired a guy that will do our score. He plays a lot of acoustic music that includes guitar, drums, and keyboard.
